How To Plan A Super Productive Week

18. Juni 2018

Da bleibt mir nichts Anderes: Ich muss meine Tage sorgfältig planen.

1: Ohne “To-do lists” geht gar nichts

Denkt in eurer Planung also auch an euch.

No matter what time of the year it is, no matter where in the world you are: Everyone should have a way to plan their working week ahead to be able to make the most out of it. Agree?

We work and live in a very fast-paced world. Fast fashion, technology, travelling often, etc. could kill our probability of success if we are not following an organized plan. I work from Monday to Friday usually at the office, however, that doesn’t mean I am not working over the weekend or do night shifts, so my plan must be clear in advance. Oh, and Emilian also demands a lot of my time after 4 pm.

Success is possible, but our plan must be pre-planned in advance, so here are some tips I would personally recommend to anyone starting their own business or a new job that will require some adaptation.

ONE: Daily Goals and To-Do List

Get your notebook and list the things that should be done by the end of the day. The “ticking off the list” method works perfectly for me. I got used to this method while working in the PR industry some years ago and I have kept it as one of my methods to achieve daily goals – and seeing the big picture. This method works as well for work as it does for your private life. From travelling to arranging your household. Lists for life I would say. I usually make sure I have my to-do list ready the night before. This saves myself some time the next morning and allows me to simply start focusing on my goals while having my morning coffee at home before Emilian wakes up.

TWO: Pre-planning

This is really an art, working in advance can save you a crazy amount of time. Sometimes, for example, I try to write the introduction of an article I have to have ready for the next week. Starting to write is usually the hardest part of the essay, they say and having the introduction done helps me to jump into the topic. I already know what I will be writing or what the topic is about. Another way of pre-planning work is preparing emails the day before, which brings us to the next point.

THREE: Plan your Sunday Routine

And you are probably thinking, wait what? Sundays are to relax! Well yes, but I like to pre-plan my Monday emails on Sunday night for example. So leave Sunday morning for your private plans, breakfasts in cool places and other fun stuff. Plan some activities, or simply relax. Another secret of successful people is that they enjoy their free time to the most. It is as important as any other thing. So once you are back home from having the best Sunday ever, save at least one hour to pre-plan your Monday ahead. Mondays are usually the busiest day of the week and preparing the emails and simply having them ready to press “Send” on Monday morning allows me to save a lot of time and start my Monday in a very productive way.

FOUR: Stick to your plan

This point is extremely important, sticking to your plan. Being consistent and repetition are two things that entrepreneurs and people in busy industries must always have in mind. In fact, it is no secret that repetition is the key to a successful week since it is the only way to create a habit or develop a new skill. Always remember that repetition and consistency are key points. It might be sometimes hard to stay on track, in a world full of distractions and things happening around you (and most specifically…your phone). So, make sure your plan is solid and that you know exactly what to do in each moment. Distractions might get you off track and this is never helpful when you are trying to reach your daily goals.

FIVE: Find your balance

Last but not least, is finding your balance and sticking to it. Especially when you are a fulltime working mom. Everything should have its right timing and you can’t miss out on anything. Your private life is AS important as your business. Balance, however, can mean something completely different for each person and even though it might take you a bit to find your ideal way to combine private life and work life, it is well possible.
