Motivation Boost: Who said you couldn’t?

“You have to be the weakest writer I have ever met in my entire life” was what Lisa’s teacher said to her once and boy can I relate. I received the same feedback over and over again during 5 long years of high school. My German teacher tried her best at putting me down and luckily didn’t succeed.

It’s hard though. We are young and sometimes we take into consideration things that we shouldn’t. Sometimes, we forget that we shouldn’t really listen to everybody’s opinions, especially, when they speak about you. There’s a lot of “smart people” out there, people who honestly believe that have it all figured out. The truth is… they don’t. No one has.

No one has the right to tell you what to do, what to say or when to say it. Lisa describes them as dream snatchers. So, if you feel a dream snatcher approaching, change direction and put your energy into something that you love. Keep growing. Keep going.

Sie können weder Reden halten noch schreiben.” Ein Satz, den Lisa Nichols, heute Autorin und Motivationssprecherin, von ihrem Lehrer hörte. Ja, auch ich habe das in der Schule erlebt – fünf Jahre lang mit meiner Oberstufen-Deutschlehrerin. Auch sie hat immer ihr Bestes gegeben, mich schlecht zu machen und mit negativen Noten zu bestrafen.

Lisa Nichols spricht heute vor Publikum. Indem sie sich selbst zum Beispiel macht, will sie Menschen ermutigen, ebenfalls große Träume zu haben und sich dabei von niemandem – sie nennt sie „Dream Snatchers“ oder „Traumdiebe“ – einschüchtern zu lassen. Um dies zu verdeutlichen, verwendet Lisa Nichols in ihrer Rede ein Bild vom Licht.
